The Allman Brothers Band

With their mix of down-home groove and instrumental virtuosity, blues-drenched soul and hard rock, bound together by an ethos of all-night jamming, the Allman Brothers Band defined Southern Rock. The originators of a sound that continues to this day, they spawned a host of bands that drew on their model - proving only that the genius of the ABB could be imitated, but never duplicated. Their kind of jamming required a level of technical virtuosity and musical literacy that was relatively new to rock & roll, which had theretofore largely been a song-oriented medium. The original guitarists in the Allman Brothers Band - Duane Allman and Dickey Betts - broke that barrier with soaring, extended solos. Combined with organist Gregg Allman's gruff, soulful vocals and Hammond B3 organ, plus the forceful, syncopated drive of a rhythm section that included two drummers, the Allman Brothers Band were a blues-rocking powerhouse from their beginnings in 1969.

Now touring with their current and longest running incarnation of Gregg Allman, Butch Trucks, "Jaimoe" Johanson, Warren Haynes, Derek Trucks, Oteil Burbridge and Marc Quinones, the Allman Brothers are a band not to be missed!
